Absences

Any time you miss a practice/event you must complete one of the following forms:

Completing the online form does not guarantee absences being excused!

No online form submitted = unexcused absence

Members will be notified status of absence(excused/unexcused) via email within 24 hours
(If you don’t receive an email from Mr Fannin within 24 hours please resubmit the absence form)

Single Absence

for any single absence. If you are sick, or miss practice once for a single reason. Not a reoccurring reason for missing practice.

Procedure
1. Submit this form at least one week prior to absence(or within 24 hours if ill).
2. Contact Mr Fannin via email and cell phone(ASAP).
3. Work, MSU clubs, greek organizations, residential conflicts, last minute studying, paper writing will not be approved. Guest class lectures, special class trips are usually approved (require letter from the professor).
4. Excused absences are approved by the Racer Band director.

Weekly Absence (MSU class conflicts & long term illness)

for any reoccurring absence. Class conflicts and sickness of two or more days. Requires documentation for absence to be excused. This is also the form for those that will weekly, leave early, or arrive late because of a class conflict.

Procedure
1. Submit this form(ASAP-weekly class conflicts due by August 24th)
2. MSU class conflicts are no longer automatically approved. They require documentation and that members do not abuse this courtesy. Bring copied class schedule to Mr. Fannin no later than August 24. Members cannot miss more than one hour of practice per week due to class conflicts. Long term ill students should provide a doctors when they return to practice.
3. Work, MSU clubs, greek organizations, residential conflicts, last minute studying, paper writing will not be approved.
Excused absences are approved by the Racer Band director.
Performance Absence

for any performance absence. Requires documentation for absence to be excused.

Procedure
1. Submit this form at least one month prior to absence
(requests given months in advance are given much more consideration)
2. All excused performance absences result in Major Meal Money reduction
(except in family death and extreme illness).
Unexcused performance absences result in the loss of stipend.
3. Last minute requests are not considered (except for family death, extreme illness)
4. Excused absences require documentation for verification purposes
(program note, note from funeral home, call from a parent, or doctor's note)
5. Excused absences are approved by the Racer Band director.
Absences must be significant life experiences. See the Racer Band handbook for details.
