Hello! My name is Skyler Engelmeyer, and I will be one of the saxophone section leaders for the 2017 Racer Band! I am a 2015 graduate of Castle High School in Newburgh, IN, and I will be going into my junior year as a Music Business major here at Murray State. This will be my third year in Racer Band, and I am super excited! Joining Racer Band is definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made, and it has helped me grow as both a person and a musician. The saxophone section is one of the best things about Racer Band! We have a lot of fun, so there will never be a dull moment while you're here! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me through text, email, or calling. I'll be happy to help you in any way I can! I look forward to meeting all of you this season!

Hello Everyone! My name is Kevin Kortz and I’m one of your section leaders for the 2017 Saxophone Section of Racer Band! I’m a Sophomore Music Education Major with saxophone being my primary instrument. I’m in many ensembles here at MSU including the MSU Jazz Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Jazz Combo, and Saxophone Quartet. I’m from Paducah, KY and graduated from McCracken County High School. I’m a member of cNAfME (Collegiate National Association for Music Education) and a proud brother of Phi Mu Alpha.
I’m super excited to lead the section with Skyler Engelmeyer (your other section leader) this upcoming season! Racer Band is a very exciting time of the year, especially for the incoming freshman or new students. This is because not only do you get to move in your dorm EARLY (which is a big deal), but this is where you meet a lot of your first friends and for me, a lot of my closest friends.
Racer Band is more than just half time shows and pep band, it’s a professional organization that knows how to rehearse hard, perform hard, and play hard. We believe in putting in hard work as well as having fun while doing it. You will be around people who love to have fun, play music, and know how to be professional when need be. PLUS, you’re already in the Sax Section (which is the BEST section). The Sax Section in a nutshell is a very chill group but we can become a party instantly while getting what needs to be done completed. Anyway, I can’t wait to meet you all and have a great Racer Band Season! If you have any questions, please contact me at anytime and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
